Photographic documentation of Commander John Casper using the Portable In-flight Landing Operations Trainer (PILOT) on the Space Shuttle Columbia's flight deck during STS-62. PILOT was tested in order to verify that it will help the shuttle commander and pilot maintain the highest possible level of proficiency for the end-of-mission appraoch and landing task on Extended Duration Operations (EDO) flights by reinforcing visual cues over the temporal, proprioceptive, and otolithic cues.
