Photographic documentation of Mission Specialist Charles ``Sam`` Gemar conducting a physiological systems experiment (PSE) in the middeck area of the Space Shuttle Columbia during STS-62. The PSE 04 is a middeck payload developed to evaluate the effect of a propietary protein molecule compound on animal physiological systems in microgravity. The primary objective was to study the complex inter-relationship between immune and skeletal systems during exposure to microgravity. In the experiment, 16 healthy adult rats implanted with osmotic pumps were treated with a developmental pharmaceutic.
