STS-80 Commander Kenneth D. Cockrell, center, demonstrates operation of a slidewire basket, part of the emergency egress system for astronauts at Launch Pad 39B, to fellow crew members, Kent V. The astronauts are participating in the Terminal Countdown Demonstration Test (TCDT), a dress rehearsal for the launch, which is targeted for Nov. 8. The STS-80 mission, the seventh and final Shuttle flight of 1996, will feature two spacewalks and the deployment, operation and retrieval of two scientific satellites, the Orbiting Retrievable Far and Extreme Ultraviolet Spectrometer- Shuttle Pallet Satellite-2 (ORFEUS-SPAS-2) and the Wake Shield Facility-3 (WSF-3). The mission will be conducted aboard the Space Shuttle orbiter Columbia.
