Driving their workday routine is the primary objective of the 100th U.S. human space launch: docking with the Russian Space Station Mir. Following lunch, the five U.S. astronauts and two Russian cosmonauts will receive a weather briefing prior to donning their launch/entry suits. They will then depart for Launch Pad 39A, where the Space Shuttle Atlantis is undergoing final preparations for liftoff. This will be the third launch try for STS-71; the first attempt on June 23 was scrubbed prior to external tank loading; another try the following day was halted at the T-9 minute mark. Persistent stormy weather in the central Florida area was the culprit behind both scrubs.
