In one of her first activities as a cosmonaut guest researcher, Shannon W. Lucid shares supplies - unstowing duty with one of her future two Russian Mir-21 cosmonaut crew members aboard the Russia's Mir Space Station. Seen with Lucid in the Mir Base Block Module scene is cosmonaut Yury V. Usachev, Mir-21 flight engineer. Five other NASA astronauts and the Mir-21 commander, all out of view here, earlier shared an exchange of gifts. The two spacecraft joined in Earth-orbit in the early morning hours of March 24, 1996. The image was recorded with a 35mm Electronic Still Camera (ESC) and downlinked at a later time to ground controllers in Houston, Texas.
