Malerba is conducting the Tether Optical Phenomena (TOP) experiment. The camera is mounted on a bracket attached to the onorbit station panel A6 and is equipped with image intensifiers and special filters. Surrounding Malerba are the aft flight deck viewing window W9, aft window shades, the pilots station seat back and checklists clipped overhead.
