The egress training utilized a production model of the Gemini spacecraft in post-landing configuration in which Grissom and Young were placed afloat in the Gulf from the deck of the Retriever. After completing their post-landing checklist, the astronauts left the spacecraft and boarded their Gemini survival rafts. This briefing occurred exactly one month prior to their successful three-orbit Gemini-Titan 3 flight.
