The Orion spacecraft in assembly for Exploration Mission 1 in the Operations and Checkout Building's High Bay. NASA and Lockheed Martin officials discussed Orion's progress with news media members during a tour of the facilities and vehicles at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida that will be used in the proving ground of research and engineering to set up a future journey to Mars. Lockheed Martin is building Orion. That flight will not carry astronauts, but Orion is designed to take crews into deep space on future missions.
