The space shuttle Columbia makes its slow 3 mile trip on a crawler transporter from the Vehicle Assembly Building to Launch Pad 39A at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC). The trip began at 5:34 a.m. (EDT) today and ended at the pad seven hours later. The Columbia, its two solid rocket boosters (SRB) and external tank (ET) will be launched, with four astronaut crew members onboard, on Nov. 11, 1982.
