In the Vertical Integration Facility on Space Launch Complex 41 on Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida, a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket is prepared for mating with the Atlas payload fairing containing NASA's Magnetospheric Multiscale observatories (MMS). MMS, led by a team from NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, consists of four identical spacecraft that will work together to provide the first three-dimensional view of magnetic reconnection, a fundamental process which occurs throughout the universe.
