In the Orbiter Processing Facility, workers watch as the nose cap of the orbiter Atlantis is moved toward the stand at left. The cap was removed from the orbiter for routine inspection. The nose cap is made of reinforced carbon-carbon (RCC), which has an operating range of minus 250 degrees F to about 3,000 degrees F.
