In the Operations and Checkout Building, the STS-75 flight crew gathers for a mid-morning meal. From left are Mission Specialist Maurizio Cheli of the European Space Agency; Payload Commander Franklin R. Chang-Diaz; Pilot Scott J. "Doc" Horowitz; Mission Commander Andrew M. Allen; Mission Specialists Jeffrey A. Hoffman and Claude Nicollier (who represents the European Space Agency); and Payload Specialist Umberto Guidoni, who represents the Italian Space Agency. To accommodate planned on-orbit operations, the crew is already divided into different shifts with differing wake-up times and daily routines. Following a weather briefing, they will don their launch/entry suits and head for Launch Pad 39B, where the Space Shuttle Columbia awaits liftoff during a two-and-a-half-hour launch window opening at 3:18 p.m. EST.
