Equipped with a simulated parachute and other gear, astronaut Franklin R. Chang-Diaz, STS-91 mission specialist, is slowly lowered from an elevated point into a nearby pool to simulate parachute decent following egress from a troubled craft over water. The majority of the STS-91 crew members recently participated in the bailout and water survival training session atop a deep pool in the Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory (NBL) at Johnson Space Center's Sonny Carter Training Center.
