Astronaut Terrence W. Wilcutt, assisted by SCUBA-equipped diver Sherwin Wade, participates in emergency bailout training at the Johnson Space Center's (JSC) Weightless Environment Training Facility (WET-F). The pilot was joined in this exercise by astronauts William F. Readdy, commander, and Jerome (Jay) Apt, mission specialist, with the other crew members having completed the training session earlier in the week. The exercises included a simulated drop from the Space Shuttle using its long escape pole, deployment of a life raft and signaling of rescue help.
