This ultra violet picture of Earth rising over the lunar surface was taken from the Command Module (CM) Endeavor during the 24th revolution of the moon. Astronaut Alfred M. Worden Jr., Apollo 15 command module pilot, remained with the Command and Service Modules (CSM) in lunar orbit while astronauts David R. Scott, commander, and James B. Irwin, lunar module pilot, descended in the Lunar Module (LM) to explore the Hadley-Apennine area of the moon.
